After our highly successful Retail Analytics meeting we will return to the core of SAS with all presentations showing SAS code.
In this meeting we will return to the basics of coding in Base SAS.

SQL
Abstract: PROC SQL is the SAS implementation of the Structured Query Language (SQL) which is widely used in relational databases. This presentation focuses on PROC SQL structure, basic and advanced queries, SQL joins, macros, and more. Advanced DATA step and new SAS programmers alike will gain an understanding of how learning PROC SQL will enhance their SAS programming tool sets.
Mike Olson is an Analysis Manager at EYC USA, where he develops business intelligence tools based on customer driven analytics. Mike is a SAS Certified Professional who holds a Professional Master of Science in Industrial Mathematics from Michigan St. University. and a B.S. in Physics and Mathematics from North Dakota St. University.
Formats
Formats are powerful data step tools, changing how information can be brought into SAS, how it can be displayed and how they can even reshape data. Base SAS has many excellent predefined formats along with the capability of creating your own formats. This presentation will provide an overview of formats in general, and will cover some applications, including creating user-defined formats, special types of formats, creating formats from datasets, and creating format libraries.

Brief Introduction to SAS
Overview the design of SAS, with a brief history and architecture of SAS. We will take a quick look at the Data step and a few introductory PROC’s.
Steven First, President of Systems Seminar Consultants (SSC), has worked with SAS for over 30 years. His SAS experience includes hundreds of manufacturing, retail, government, marketing, and financial applications. He founded WISAS and WISUG and has a B.S. in Computer Science from the UW, La Crosse.
