Healthcare Analyst Senior at BlueCross BlueShield of Minnesota

Job Summary:
As a key member of our Healthcare Informatics team, you will manage complex data and information to provide meaningful results, which influences strategic decision-making at Blue Cross and improve the health of our members. Your other key responsibilities include performing data analysis, manipulating complex data sets, designing and producing reports, evaluating program and product effectiveness, identifying success factors and improvement opportunities, suggesting potential solutions, and helping business owners set strategic directions.

Accountabilities:
1. Researches, analyzes and interprets statistical data and provides technical assistance to other departments.
2. Identifies issues to be researched, determining affected areas, estimating the impact and leading the resolution.
3. Works with senior positions or management to understand and interpret the financial impact of decisions made by retrieving and analyzing claim costs, revenue and/or other relevant data.
4. Participates in the implementation of new products and system enhancements by providing data and recommendations to assist in evaluating the impact of the proposed benefit, system or process changes.
5. May represent the division on corporate projects and may have leadership roles on these teams.
6. Independently manages the retrieval and analysis of data on multiple tasks or projects with little or no management involvement.
7. Acts as a resource for other members of the department/division on business issues and may be responsible for training and guidance of other employees

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree in Epidemiology, Health Management Informatics, Health Services Research, Social Sciences, Statistics and 3 years of relevant experience.
2. Proficiency in Microsoft software applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (any combination will enhance your candidacy)
1. 2 years experience analyzing and modeling clinical data involving outcomes and utilization preferred, using various statistical software and computer programming (SAS, Visual Basic, DB2, Oracle, SQL etc.)
2. Extensive working knowledge of clinical data quality measurements in a health plan setting such as HEDIS specification and Pay-for-Performance concepts preferred.
3. Masters degree preferred, but not required
4. Experience analyzing case, disease, and utilization management data.
5. Experience working with large datasets
