JSL: From Basics to "Uff da!"
An introduction to the JMP Scripting Language (JSL) by Erin Vang, author of the first JMP Scripting Guide (JMP version 4) and custom scripting consultant with Global Pragmatica , this talk will start with a broad, gentle introduction to JSL and various reasons you might want to consider learning it, continue with an example of how to build a custom analysis with a nice point-and-click interface, and finish with a taste of advanced "Uff da!"-level tricks for taking a custom analysis script to the next level: a professional-quality, sellable, polished tool.

The talk will be interactive and move at the pace of the audience, with approximately one-hour parts incorporating time for breaks and questions.

First hour: JSL Basics

A quick tour of examples of different ways people use JSL and why. How to start figuring JSL out. How to untangle undocumented details. 

Second hour: Advanced Example

Building a custom analysis with a GUI: I'll demonstrate how I progressed from an idea to a working script to perform a hard-to-get-to analysis with a basic graphical user interface (GUI). 

Third hour: Uff da! JSL Tricks for the Power User

Progressing from a custom analysis with a decent GUI to something beautiful, reliable, and protected.

Parts 2 and 3 will tell the story of a script Global Pragmatica developed for performing a One Proportion Test quickly and easily in an elegant GUI. This script will be released at no cost to the public in an encrypted (unreadable but runnable), freely distributable form just as soon as Global Pragmatica's lawyers have signed off on the small print. A single-user license for an unencrypted (readable, modifiable) version of the script will be sold for $500, and of course Global Pragmatica is happy to do further customization for hire.
