The position will support the analytical efforts of the Fair Lending Modeling group within the Wells Fargo Law Department. This includes data analysis and interpretation, development of statistical models and model validation, the production of various quantitative analyses used for Fair Lending underwriting, pricing and servicing risk identification and mitigation purposes and report generation. 


Basic Qualifications:



  • 2+ years’ risk experience. 

Minimum Qualifications:



  • The successful candidate will be self-motivated, inquisitive and computer literate with substantial SAS programming experience.

  • The candidate should also have the ability to work independently, require minimum supervision and work in a team work environment.

  • Postgraduate degree (preferably PhD degree) in an analytical discipline (heavy use of statistical analysis). 

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills. 

  • Solid Understanding of Regression Analysis:


    • Ordinary Least Squares

    • Logistic Regression

    • Decision Tree (CART, CHAD)

    • Interpretation of parameters and outputs of the statistical models, assumptions underlying OLS/Logistic regression techniques, residual/deviance plot analysis, diagnostic test, goodness of fit test, test of statistical significance, etc.

  • Knowledge of Categorical Data Analysis:


    • Odds Ratio analysis

    • Relative Risk analysis

    • Chi-Square test - contingency tables

    • Fisher’s Exact test - small expected values

  • A  very strong technical/quantitative background and statistical modeling experience primarily in SAS:


    • Statistical model development/enhancements

    • Writing new SAS programs and rewriting old SAS programs for efficiency

    • Expertise in using Microsoft EXCEL and WORD

  • Proof of eligibility to work in the US. 

Preferred Skills:



  • Knowledge of other advanced statistical techniques.

  • VBA script/programming (EXCEL based).
